Inter Library Loans

Borrowing from our consortium

Mobius is a consortium that the Seth Wilson Library is a part of that offers an Inter Library Loan program to all member libraries called OpenRS. If a book you are looking for is not available in our catalog, or the EDS, you can select to search in the OpenRS catalog. You can access OpenRS through the link here or when searching in our catalog you will see the option to “Search Mobius.”

Search Mobius
From OpenRS, once you find the book you would like to request, select “Place hold.”

You’ll then be directed to select your institution and sign in. If you do not have an account you can create one using your OCC email address and your barcode or ID number. After signing in you will be able to place the hold for pick up at the Seth Wilson Library and you will receive an email when it is ready for pickup. If you are a distance student, or have a nearby library that is more convenient, you can select a different pickup location from another participating library, as pictured below.

After selecting your pickup library, you will select this pickup location. If a library has multiple service points, such as a satellite campus, you can select where to pick up the item, but it will usually be at the main library branch you already selected.

Make sure to bring your ID when you pick up a book using the Pick Up Anywhere feature and to abide by that particular library’s lending rules.

WorldCat is a global catalog offered through a network of subscribed libraries. If you cannot find the resource you are looking for through the Ebsco Discovery Service, or Mobius, check out WorldCat here to see if it is available. If so, send in a request to our Technical Services Librarian at [email protected] with the title, author, and any other relevant information such as the edition or ISBN and a request will be put in. It is important to note that not all libraries on WorldCat participate in the Inter Library Loan system so seeing a result on WorldCat does not necessarily mean that you will be able to receive it as a loan. Once you put in the request to our Technical Services Librarian she will then be able to check if the item is loanable. Once a request is successful, you will receive digital access for a loan period for digital resources, or a physical item will be shipped to the library and you will be contacted once the item has arrived. Some loans may have caveats in place from the lending library, such an in house use requirement. If the item you requested is not loanable, we will let you know and do our best to help you locate the item through another available resource.

If you have any questions regarding using WorldCat, please send our Technical Services Librarian a message through Canvas, email, or LibGuides
